Common Mistakes
❌ Confusing ser with estar
Use ser for permanent traits (identity, origin, profession). Use estar for temporary states (mood, location, condition).
❌ Using ser for location
Location uses estar, not ser. Say 'El banco está en la calle' not 'El banco es en la calle'.
❌ Forgetting ser is irregular
Ser is completely irregular — its forms don't follow normal patterns. The preterite forms (fui, fuiste) are shared with ir.
❌ Ser vs estar with adjectives
'Ella es aburrida' means she's a boring person. 'Ella está aburrida' means she's bored right now. The verb changes the meaning!
